Most people (and coffee shops) make cold brew wrong
Cold brew’s rise came about swiftly and it’s safe to say it’s not going anywhere. The thing is, most people make it wrong and that includes cafes.
They aren’t using the right water to coffee ratio
They aren’t using the right beans
They aren’t using the right method
I’ve made hundreds of batches of cold brew and it doesn’t have to be like this.
First and foremost, we need to start with a cold brew maker that makes the process easy. The Lafeeca Essence is that brewer. My review of this cold brew maker and my method is below.

No glass means no breaking it
I can’t tell you how many glass cold brew makers I’ve broken. Ok, actually it’s 2. But that’s too many.
The Lafeeca Essence features Tritan Plastic construction. This BPA-free material offers glass-like clarity with superior durability. This means it can can withstand hot liquids, freezing temperatures, and accidental drops without breaking.
The thoughtful design extends to the rubber finish handle with a stainless push-release button. It's these small touches that demonstrate Lafeeca's commitment to user experience.

It’s easy to clean (thank heavens)
Honestly, cleaning is the most annoying part of the brewing process. There aren’t any cheese clothes or felt filters or hard to reach parts where gunk can build up and make your coffee taste bad. The Lafeeca Essence has a lid that provides convenient access to all parts of the brewer.
Plus, it’s dishwasher safe.
Cleaning can be a little easier with this bottle cleaner brush.
The most important part: the filter
What truly sets the Lafeeca Essence apart is its patented dual-layer filter system. The fine mesh technology captures both regular and micro coffee grounds, resulting in a supremely clear brew without sediment.

Easy as it gets brewing
The brewing process couldn't be simpler:
Add your favorite coffee grounds - coarse grind setting – to the dual-layer filter. I used 90 grams.
Put the filter in the Essence brewer.
Pour in cold water. Fill it up to the max fill line. Use filtered water, please.
Put the lid on and give it a shake to make sure all the grounds are saturated.
Let it steep in the refrigerator for 12 to 24 hours. I like 24 hours because I like it strong.
Pour and enjoy! This cold brew will be ready to drink. No concentrates here.
No complex steps, no special techniques required – just consistently great cold brew every time.
Final thoughts
Literally zero complaints about this brewer. It’s actually pretty excellent. Overall, I give the Lafeeca Essence cold brew maker a 95/100. Highly recommend this to anyone looking to simplify their cold brew process.
